Groundforce Day 2022

Saturday 9th July

Despite there being no longer being any formal RFU RugbyForce event, the club will be holding its own ‘GroundForce Day’ on Saturday 9th July.

There’s plenty to do to build on the work done weekly by the Friday Club and we will be looking to achieve the following.

  1. Complete the thinning out of the treeline on the bottom bank between the Training pitch and the lower tier.

  2. Clear trees from the perimeter fence

  3. Clear undergrowth around the perimeter and also strim the perimeter hoardings.

  4. Clearing pathways

  5. Paint posts and railings

  6. Restore advertising boards

In addition, we will run a practical tutorial on how to mow the pitches for those volunteers that are prepared to lend a hand in that department.

We will have 4 chainsaws in operation (with competent operators) on the day but we will need help moving logs & branches.  It is advised that those coming along bring stout footwear and gardening gloves.  Additionally, if you have garden tools (loppers, bowsaw, rakes and shovels) they would be most welcome, as would any additional petrol driven brushcutters/strimmers, or even the odd wheelbarrow.

The whole event will achieve a lot in improving the ground as a whole but needs you to lend a hand; ‘many hands make light work’ as they say.

There will be a BBQ and a few drinks both soft & hard on offer at the end of the day to round things off.

Further details and timings in due course.
